Biographies of the AuthorsMr. William F. Gilreath is a software engineer, computer scientist, developer, and writer. Will has several years of software experience with C/C++ and Java on the Unix and Windows platforms.
Will has written various articles and book reviews for IEEE Concurrency and IEEE Distributed Systems online, as well as other technical articles and research monographs. Will's technical interests include the Web, software development, distributed systems, algorithms, data structures, compiler theory, minimalist computer architectures, and programming languages.
Will holds Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Mississippi State University, and has done graduate coursework.
Dr. Phillip A. Laplante is Professor of Software Engineering at Penn State University. In addition to his academic career, Phil spent several years as a software engineer and project manager working on avionics, computer-aided design and software test systems. Phil has authored or edited 25-books and has published more than 150 scholarly papers.
Phil received his B.S., M.Eng., and Ph.D. in Systems Planning and Management, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science, respectively, from Stevens Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Colorado.
Phil is a Fellow of the IEEE and SPIE and a member of numerous other professional societies, program committees, and boards. Phil is also a licensed professional engineer in the state of Pennsylvania.
